Logitech MX Master 2S Review

The Logitech MX Master 2S is a high-end, feature-rich wireless mouse that’s comfortable to use and has a unique thumbwheel for horizontal scrolling. It’s expensive, but it’s the best mouse we’ve tested so far.

DESIGN & COMFORT

The MX Master 2S is a large mouse, measuring 5.0 x 3.4 x 2.0 inches (HWD), and it’s a bit too big for my liking. It’s also quite heavy, weighing in at 5.2 ounces, which is almost double the weight of some other mice I’ve tested. The mouse is made mostly of plastic, with a matte finish on the top and a rubberized grip on the sides. The bottom is lined with two large plastic feet that help the mouse glide smoothly across your desk.

There are six buttons on the MX Master 2S, including the left and right buttons, a scroll wheel that tilts to the side for horizontal scrolling, two thumb buttons, and a button behind the scroll wheel that lets you cycle between two different sensitivity settings. The thumb buttons are positioned in a way that makes them easy to reach, and they have a nice, clicky feel to them.

The MX Master 2S connects to your computer using Logitech’s Unifying Receiver, which is a small USB dongle that plugs into your computer’s USB port. The dongle can be stored inside the mouse when you’re not using it, and Logitech includes a handy extension cable in the box in case your computer’s USB ports are difficult to reach.

The MX Master 2S uses Logitech’s proprietary Lightspeed wireless technology, which promises a 1 millisecond response time. In my experience, the mouse feels just as responsive as a wired mouse, and I didn’t notice any lag or latency issues.

The MX Master 2S is powered by two AA batteries, and Logitech claims that the batteries will last up to 70 days on a single charge. In my experience, the battery life was closer to 40 days, but your mileage may vary depending on how often you use the mouse and what sensitivity settings you have it set to.

PERFORMANCE & FEATURES

The MX Master 2S performed admirably in my tests. The cursor was always responsive and accurate, and I never had any issues with it losing track of my desk or losing connection to the receiver. The scroll wheel is also very smooth, and I like that you can toggle between two different sensitivity settings depending on how fast you want it to scroll.

The highlight feature of the MX Master 2S is its thumbwheel, which lets you scroll horizontally as well as vertically. This is a handy feature for large spreadsheets or long web pages, and it’s something that I found myself using more often than I thought I would.

The MX Master 2S also has a few other handy features, including the ability to connect to multiple computers at the same time and quickly switch between them using the Logitech Flow software. The mouse also comes with a handy storage case, and Logitech includes a 2-year warranty.

CONCLUSION

The Logitech MX Master 2S is a great mouse for power users and professionals. It’s comfortable to use, has a thumbwheel for horizontal scrolling, and can be connected to multiple computers at the same time. It’s also quite expensive, but it’s the best mouse we’ve tested so far.
